We need your help!
We have now completed the vital renewal of St George’s Hanover Square!
We have restored our wonderful building to its former glory and in so doing have discovered numerous original design features that we were previously unaware of! These, together with the rest of the renewed interior, revitalise St George’s as a place of inspiration and service, both for our own generation and for those that come after us.
Music is as important to St George’s now as it was when Handel sat in his own pew. This is reflected in the high calibre of music making by our renowned choir, and our partners from the London Handel Festival, the Royal College of Music and Music in Mayfair.
To continue this great tradition we commissioned Richards, Fowkes & Co from Tennessee in the USA to design and build us a new organ, which was installed at the end of 2012. This wonderful instrument, the first of its kind in London, is housed in the existing Victorian case and has proven to be full of charm and character in the Baroque style and is already receiving wonderful reviews and a loyal following.
Our commitment, started in hope and faith, has cost us £2.5 millions and whilst we have repaid the major part of our borrowings we still have a mountain to climb and an organ to pay for!
