A change of opening hours at St George's

18 October 2018

St George's has for many years been open to the public for more than forty-five hours each week.

From Monday 29th October – the day after the clocks go back – our weekday opening hours will be 8.30am – 4.30pm and a bit longer on Wednesdays when we stay open for Holy Communion at 5.45pm.

Commenting on this change, the Rector of St George's, the Revd Roderick Leece has said, "Over the years I have noticed that relatively few people come into St George’s between 8.00 and 8.30am but when locking up at 4.00pm there are very often people in the building whose visit has unfortunately had to be cut short. I very much hope by staying open a bit later, more people will be encouraged to come in for a quiet moment, to light a candle and say a prayer or simply to look round this beautiful building. "

The Vestry hours have been similarly adjusted.
