Food Voucher Scheme

19 July 2018

St George’s Food Voucher Programme for homeless people was established in October 2011 with the support of charitable grants and private donations, and in partnership with Cabmen’s Shelter in Hanover Square.

A steady growth in demand over the past seven years has accelerated rapidly since the beginning of 2018. In an effort to bring down weekly expenditure to a sustainable level, at the beginning of June we reduced the number of days on which vouchers were distributed from five to four. Unfortunately this has not resulted in the saving required so further steps are now needed.

Between Monday 23rd July and Wednesday 8th August Food Vouchers will be distributed between 8.00am – 1.00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only.

Between Friday 10th August and Monday 3rd September the Cabmen’s Shelter will be closed so no vouchers will be distributed.

Distribution of vouchers will start again on Tuesday 4th September.

A further announcement will be made at the beginning of September outlining plans for the remainder of the year.
